Saving Workbooks using VBA - 1
Zurich6 had created multiple new workbooks from a master workbook and now wanted to automate the "save as" process based on the cell "B1" in the new workbook.
The following code he had used resulted in the new file being saved as "true.xls"
Sub NewWorkbooksave
' Macro recorded 2/7/2003 by zurich6
' Keyboard Shortcut: Ctrl+n
ActiveWorkbook.SaveAs Filename:=Range("B1").Select
ActiveSheet.Paste
, FileFormat:= _
xlNormal, Password:="", WriteResPassword:="", ReadOnlyRecommended:=False _
, CreateBackup:=False
End Sub
FWind suggested the following line of code
ActiveWorkbook.SaveAs Filename:=Range("B1").Value
Because, "Range("B1").Select" selects cell B1 and returns the result TRUE if successful, FALSE otherwise.
Colo, in a later thread showed how to save the file as the value in the Active Cell.
ActiveWorkbook.SaveAs Filename:=activecell.Value
